Galloway Lodges is a family-run staycation business offering self-catering holiday accommodation within the hamlet of Barend, Sandyhills, on the beautiful Colvend Coast of the Solway Firth. Our rural Scandinavian-style holiday lodges are located close to sandy beaches of Sandyhills bay with its scenic coastal path and Rockcliffe with its curved bay. The small village of Kippford on the beautiful Urr estuary contributes fun for all watersports including paddle boarding. Dalbeattie & Mabie forests are nearby for walking or mountain biking. RSPB Mershead nature reserve provides great walking with bird spotting included. Colvend Golf Club is only a few hundred metres away. With our spectacular rugged coastline it gives a host of activities for the whole family to enjoy.

We have three cosy Scandinavian-style self-catering holiday lodges in Dumfries and Galloway at Barend: Red Kite Lodge, Kestrel Lodge and Owl Lodge.
Large groups for up to 16 guests. No all male or no all female parties.
All are set in an elevated position at Barend, and offer visitors views out across the hills of Colvend Golf Course towards the Solway Firth. Sandyhills beach is only a short walk away and the bay has lovely coastal walks to the hamlet of Portling, with a coastal path stretching to neighbouring Rockcliffe and Kippford. All offer stunning views of the Lake District and Cumbria beyond.

Reaching our holiday lodges is easy! From the M6/M74 at the border with England, take the A75 heading towards Dumfries and Stranraer/Cairnryan (Stena line port). Continue on the A75 at Dumfries and take the Dalbeattie turning at Kilnford. Take the A711 to Dalbeattie and then follow the signs for the Colvend Coast Road A710. Barend is at Sandyhills, around 8 miles from Dalbeattie. Our post code for sat navs is: DG5 4NU.
