The sun has got his hat on!

31 May 2023

Yes, even Scotland gets its fair share of good weather!

Palm trees against the sky

The Gulf Stream is a warm ocean current originating in the Gulf of Mexico. It flows up the US eastern coastline before veering off towards north-west Europe where it becomes known as the North Atlantic Current. This current is the reason behind temperatures in Ireland and the western coast of Britain being a few degrees warmer than the east coast.

Dumfries and Galloway, situated in the south-western corner of Scotland, is noted for its mild climate, its palm trees and its nickname of The Scottish Riviera. You only have to visit Logan Botanic Garden and marvel at its tree ferns, palm trees and its wide range of exotic plants from various corners of the globe to experience this for yourself.

And, as we speak in late May 2023, the sun is blazing down with a temperature as high as 23 degrees, the sky is blue and the air is still. The birdsong is a delight, as is the forecast for exactly the same weather tomorrow.

During  your stay at Galloway Lodges, you will be only minutes from a beautiful, family-friendly sandy beach where children can play safely and, fingers crossed, enjoy the same weather as today. Sandyhills Beach, along with many others locally, is only one of many places to visit when you holiday at Galloway Lodges.
